Health and Safety Policy

Statement of intent

SATRA Ltd and its UK subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to collectively as SATRA) are committed to the effective management of health and safety and will treat health and safety as seriously as the organisation’s other aims and objectives. Through effective planning, organising, control, monitoring and review, SATRA will ensure that health and safety management is and remains effective at all levels.

SATRA will allocate the necessary resources and make the necessary arrangements to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all persons who are employed within SATRA or who may be affected by its work place activities.

SATRA fully accepts its statutory responsibilities as detailed in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. SATRA will adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all relevant EU/UK legislation to ensure that an acceptable standard is achieved throughout SATRA.

To ensure statutory and common law duties of care are met, SATRA will so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are safe with as minimal risk to health as is reasonably practicable
  • make arrangements for the use, handling, storage, transport of articles and substances which are safe with as low a risk to health as is reasonably practicable
  • provide such information, instruction, training and adequate supervision as is necessary to ensure the health and safety at work of its employees
  • maintain any place of work in a condition that is safe and that has as low risk to health as reasonably practicable, including access to and egress from that work place
  • provide and maintain a working environment that is safe where the risks to the health & safety of personnel have been reduced to as low as reasonably practicable and have adequate facilities for their welfare at work
  • conduct its business in such a way as to ensure persons not in its employment, but who may be affected thereby, have potential risks to their health and safety reduced to as low a level as reasonably practicable
  • consult with its employees regarding health and safety by holding quarterly Representatives of Employee Safety meetings and will encourage positive forms of employee involvement to enable SATRA to manage health and safety effectively
  • conduct quarterly H&S management review meetings
  • ensure all persons involved with SATRA are made aware of their and the organisation’s health and safety responsibilities.

To ensure the policy remains relevant to changing legislation and the organisation’s requirements, SATRA’s health and safety policy will be reviewed at least annually with additional reviews implemented when required.
