Safety Footwear
EN ISO 20345 is the European Standard for safety footwear with toecaps, but there are many subsequent standards that have to be met for specific types of footwear such as firefighter boots, and requirements for different types of protection from slip and chemical resistance to impact resistance.
Some common tests that are carried out on safety footwear are toecap impact and compression, and penetration tests to simulate standing on a nail, for example. More specific tests range from crushing tests for motorcycle boots through to flammability tests for foundry boots.
